One question we often get is, “What’s the difference between Serving Size and Suggested Use?” We will attempt to explain the difference to help you better utilize your purchase. Generally, the manufacturer determines the serving size of their product depicted on a supplement label. If there is no established daily value, you are relying on the supplement company to suggest an appropriate serving size. The suggested use is the manufacture’s recommendation to provide the user with an appropriate dosage for the average person. The suggested use may be the starting or end point once you determine how much you need. The idea is to start low and tritrate up to an amount till you get the required effect or to provide a healing opportunity.
Let’s get into the numbers!
The Quicksilver Scientific Nanoemulsified Hemp Extract (Full Spectrum and Broad Spectrum) comes in two sizes: 50 ml (400 mg) and 30 ml (240 mg). This article will illustrate the difference between serving size and suggested use using the 50 ml size bottle as an example. For more information on the 30 ml bottle, click here.
The serving size in the Supplement Fact panel for the 50 ml size bottle is 2 ml (4 pumps). Each serving contains 16 mg of hemp CBD. There are 25 servings per container or a total of 100 pumps. The following table illustrates how these numbers fit together.
2ml x 25 servings = 50 ml
4 pumps x 25 servings = 100 pumps
16 mg CBD x 25 servings = 400 mg CBD
We can break down this data to determine how many milligrams of hemp CBD are in one pump and use this information to determine how may milligrams you are taking each day and how long a bottle might last. One pump equals 4 mg of CBD. Based on that information, here is the same information based on a serving size of one pump (4 mg):
100 pumps x 0.5ml x = 50 ml
4 mg x 4 pumps x = 16 mg
4 mg CBD x 100 pumps = 400 mg CBD
The suggested use for the 50 ml size bottle is 4 pumps. Based on this information, we can calculate how much hemp CBD you might be taking if used 1-3 times each day.
Serving Size Times daily Total mg per day
1 pumps (4 mg) 1x/day 4 mg
1 pumps (4 mg) 2x/day 8 mg
1 pumps (4 mg) 3x/day 12 mg
2 pumps (8 mg) 1x/day 8 mg
2 pumps (8 mg) 2x/day 16 mg
2 pumps (8 mg) 3x/day 24 mg
3 pumps (12 mg) 1x/day 12 mg
3 pumps (12 mg) 2x/day 24 mg
3 pumps (12 mg) 3x/day 36 mg
4 pumps (16 mg) 1x/day 16 mg
4 pumps (16 mg) 2x/day 32 mg
4 pumps (16 mg) 3x/day 48 mg
Based on the table above you can calculate how much you might be using over a certain period. Dosages for products such as Quicksilver Scientific Nanoemulsified Colorado Hemp oil are generally 1/3 of the normal tincture range (4-16 mg mild healing opportunity, 16-36 mg moderate healing opportunity, 36-48 mg severe healing opportunity).
Keep adjusting the dose, timing and frequency to meet your particular needs. Many users are able to reduce their CBD hemp oil dose to 1/4 of their acute dose after 2-3 months. You can create a table like the one below to better keep track of your use as you titrate up to a dosage that works for you.
